We have the coldest temps on record for last night. Today the 20s felt not so bad! Tonight single digits but no records expected.
Puppies, sheep, horses, dogs, rooster are all doing fine.
There was an interesting Rooster Puppy exchange today. As I stood and watched from afar I laughed so much!
The Rooster came round and in where this one puppy was… they kinda looked at each other. This bird he thinks he is the boss. The puppies do not challenge him. So this one Black and Tan pup sort of stood the Rooster down in a staring match and at some point the puppy said “hold that thought! I will be right back!” It was gone for a few minutes and the Rooster decided to stroll inside the whelping room. (I cannot vouch for this Rooster’s brains) In a minute or two here came 5 puppies back with the black and tan puppy! and they went “Uh Where is the Rooster?” NO! He is in OUR room! By now I am rooting for the puppies! They walked in carefully and in a minute the Rooster strolled out saying” I ain’t scared of no puppies I ain’t scared! as he picked up speed and went round the corner of the barn, Puppies just watched! No chase no fuss or bark …Interesting to me how the sheep perceive the puppies one puppy can cause them to move away from its presence and for that silly Rooster it took 6 puppies…
Course I do not want the puppies chasing the rooster…I want them gentle with birds. Seems they got that from Drover so far.
Drover , Montanna, Timber and Amarillo spent last night in my mud room and are all bedded down in there tonight as well. Timber is actually cold in this weather. Her fur is much thinner than the others but they all want to sleep in. Abilene and BOO are in the whelping room with the puppies…
Tomorrow we will work sheep!
