Abilene and Drover are expecting a litter of puppies in mid December.
I thought I would tell you all what is happening inside Abilene as she goes through this pregnancy. And how she does as well….
At conception to Day 7 the embryos are in the oviduct, and Abilene does not appear different. She is busy telling the dogs to quit sniffing her and let her be. She is her normal, frisky, happy dog about the farm. Remember until yesterday she was in solitary confinement in my horse trailer for safe keeping from unwanted suitors, but now she is making things clear to all that she is not interested. She has been up for 20 days straight with only potty breaks.
Today is October 22nd and her 10th day of pregnancy. On day 8 the embryos are 4 cells in size but by day 14 they will be 64 cells and they are entering the uterus.
Isn’t this exciting? Amazing how life begins and then grows.! There should be no outside visual changes in Abilene, but she could start being sick some, for now all is normal….
