We have 7 Unregistered Katahdin ewes that are 9 months old we purchased back in September from Rick Dollinger in Rugby VA. They are out of registered stock.
I have been studying when to breed my girls and it seems from all the things to be considered that NOW will be best time. The gestation time is 5 months, so that would make May lambing time. The weather should be good and the grass too, then.
Rick has a agreed to loan me his registered Katahdin Ram for a very small fee for as long as I need him, “Rambo Pete” is around the same age as my girls and no kin to them. So Sunday, Les is going to go pick him up. I can’t leave as Abilene is too near her delivery time, and I am not hauling her 400 miles in her condition. That would be a pretty come off for her to deliver puppies in the truck! All of this is very exciting to me. Not to mention my girls will be real pleased!!!
