Beautiful Day…the life of English Shepherds on A Farm….

We worked cutting wood Les and I cut a cord of fire wood! Yes, we are tired.

But what a beautiful day! The sky was Carolina Blue and the temps in the 50’s! A light breeze. Perfect for cutting wood.

I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed my dogs today! (I do everyday!) But today was just awesome. Peaceful fun! Entertaining!

We started the morning watching the ewes and their 28 lambs!  We still have 3 to lamb!

The lambs are so much fun to watch and they look like black and white puppies bouncing round!

The sun  was shinning bright! As we crossed the dam headed to the field to cut wood …along the edge of the branch, I could see Grandpas big barn in the distance and his cows…Peace and a smile filled my spirit.

The dogs were all bouncing along running grabbing a drink from the pond and bumping and bouncing along. What joy and fun they had!

The puppies played and explored while we cut wood. They stayed where they could see us, and wisely out of the way. A tree felled here and then there..Puppies out of the way!  I never had to say a word. For they had watched and figured out to stay out of the way…At the same time they were not disturbed by the chain saw or the tree falling. They took it all in and figured out the wise thing for a good Shepherd to do!

We rode on the wood trailer behind the tractor…Happy to not have to walk a extra mile! (and it is all up hill)  or seems so!

We unloaded the wood…Again the pups were there but not in the way!

As the sun set over Steep Rock …The dogs and the pups and I sat and watched the lambs playing and nursing and then doing lamb ballet! The chickens scratched happily along and then worked their way to the barn where they sleep…The dogs and I… rested happily and contented!

A day on the farm …not too exciting…but very fulfilling!  In ways that I can never begin to explain…Deep in one soul..in the very depth of ones being..then after all this wonderful blissful happy sleep!

Sigh…
