As many of you know I have a puppy from the Abilene Drover litter. (the pup with no name) yet!
My girl is amazing to watch! She is 11 weeks old…
She sits daily for an hour or more just watching the sheep and lambs. She does not bother them just watches…
Daily she goes with Drover and myself and checks on the sheep and lambs in the field. Waits as I water them… She heels naturally (I have not taught her) She pays attention to me and listens. She waits at the gate and is respectful of entering and exiting.
She does not chase or bother the hens. But can move them as well as any grown dog.
The other day the guy brought hay and my girl and her brother Deacon held the sheep off the gate and the hay as it was unloaded. All by their selves! I was proud. (The guy said that is one gritty pup!) Yep! Gritty and smart!
I suppose the most amazing part is the sheep respect this pup! (Oh I have 28 sheep and 28 lambs all born in the last 2 weeks) This pup and her brother have presence! and the sheep respect them for the most part! (one ole ewe eventually will come to her respect I bet sooner than latter) in the mean time I watch and make sure nothing happens to my pups!
I am happy with this girl!
