The moon rose slowly, and brightly over Dutchmen’s Mountain. The clouds hung low and dark at times across the face of the moon but never blocked it. The birds were singing It’s Summer! It’s Summer! and having quite a time with their song! I have never heard such sweet, beautiful music.
The evening seemed all most mystical and ancient. Hard to explain…the air had cooled down and there was little or no breeze…but the air still moved more like breath …you feel it …you know it is there and moving but yet…you had to wait for it look and feel for it…
The smells of the evening…All Magnolias, accompanied by fresh mowed grass. Sigh…
The sheep bells off in the distance…tinkled and the soft voice of a Ewe and her Lamb as they spoke to one another lovingly. The occasional horse calling to his pasture mate…Cows softly lowed in the distance…
Les and I sat on the front porch of our country home and drank all this in and marveled at God’s wonder and beauty in His creation.
