When I was a girl on my Grandpa’s farm I loved 3 things. My Grandma and Grandpa Delk, Horses, and Dogs.
I wanted to be famous when I grew up with lots of money, ranches (Bonanza influenced me) live in New York city, surf, drive a fast red sports car, and be beautiful….oh and I wanted to become an astronomer and an astronaut!
Well…Astronomers need to be real good at math…Astronauts need to be really fit and in my day male…
I became a Licensed General Contractor, Real Estate Broker, Developer of Land, a small farm owner, with horses, and dogs…had a pretty red sports car and a truck:-)
Then my Daddy passed away at 53 years of age and my world changed. My real reason for achieving died on March 24th, 1990.
I had a hard time for several years…Finding my way. I tried different types of work…Antiques, did remodeling, stayed in real estate…gave horseback riding lessons, and did horse camp, worked for the USFS as a campground host and a clerk/history teller in the Virginia Mountains. Did a lot of horse back riding and my English Shepherds were with me from 1980 till now!
Got married to Les the love of my life in 1988 !
Lots of loved ones are in Heaven now…A great cloud of witnesses!
I have a small flock of Katahdin sheep. I keep for working my English Shepherds. I love it…I have always been blessed to love what I am doing!
The last few days have been exceptional weather wise for February! My friends have been out working their dogs too. What a wonderful group of people and exceptional dogs!
Adam and his Aussie are doing amazing! They have come so far, when he first started back 4 months ago his dog had no stop! Did not lead, and liked to snack on sheep. Yesterday he an Ollie were fetching sheep in 8 acres anywhere Adam pleased!
Gerry and Elvis are preparing for their Corgi Nationals! And Cher is not far behind!
Linda is doing awesome and her dog is really coming along well!
KAT Ballou is fetching well (not pretty yet) but by gosh she’s got it! And working pens and sorting!
The new puppy wants to go to work with me and does!
Drover is an AHBA Herding Trial Champion! Who would have guessed we could do that 7 years ago!
Farming, raising sheep and working my dogs. Cutting wood, gardening, living the life I was raised. Who knew?!
Happy and pleased and very blessed by God in heaven!
A long journey to get to where I belong! All is well…
