Drover…

Drover is an amazing Sheep Dog!  Still at 10 years and 4 months going strong.

He is  the finder of sheep… and my go to  dog to bring them in.  My other dogs are equally amazing but after all the late night work Drover and I have done together it is Drover I trust for this type work. Not because the others are not completely capable and trustworthy (they are his offspring)  it is ME !

This evening late somehow one of the Barbs was across the fence and in the deep woods. Drover worked hard. We ran out of light and flashlight we made the decision…wait till morning. Hopefully she will come back to the flock after bit. She will be able to come to the fence along side the the flock.

Just so you understand a Barb can hide in full site of a dog in the daylight. Like a wild cow  they can step back into a spot and nothing can see them. I sure hope that nothing is out hunting and that she will be okay in the morning!

It was too dark for me and with no light a useless endeavor… Drover spent a very long time looking for her. I figured this was  pushing her away from the flock since she was ahead of Drover… so we stopped and dropped  two fences. And opened 2 gates. Hopefully this will do the trick…

It is to cold, to wet, to dark, and to rough a terrain to be out in the dark hunting for a Barb. They are important but more important for us to  be safe too!

End of story!

Barb safe and has a lamb ! Came home and was in the yard!
