34 years…

Long ago July 31,1988…Les and I were married at my home church…Piney Grove United Methodist Church, in Jackson Creek, North Carolina…By Reverend Bill Farmer…Before God and our family and friends…

So many from that beautiful day now reside in that great cloud of witnesses in heaven…

My sweet Grandma and Grandpa , Daddy and Mama, my Great Aunt Grace, Les’s sweet Mama Mary, my Great Aunt Lala, Aunt Anna, Uncle Dempsey, Cousin William and Cousin David, sweet  Cousin Derrick…to name some…this is way to difficult…friends…

So on my way up the steps of the church with my arm on my Daddy’s in my beautiful dress…in typical Daddy fashion he says to me “Girl ! You see that new Cadillac sitting out there?” Confused I say “Yes” he says “It’s yours!” I bring my mind to the present and not about the wedding about to take place…I get my whits about me and ask “No Payments?”  “No none”  I ask “What is the catch?” He said” just do not go inside the church and get married! I said “What?!”  “Yes” he said  “I will take care of everything! You just go!”

I laugh out loud as I remember this conversation…So like my Daddy…No I choose the best! and it was not a new Caddy!

When Les and I married I thought if we lived long enough to make it to 25 years of marriage we would have lived a long time! Ha! Look at this …34 years!  I never dreamed of that long…See Les and I were married later in life…No I am not telling my age!  God truly restores the years the locusts have eaten!

Much has changed…besides my pretty black long curly hair…

We started out life in a home I built on 12 acres, and in the building business…today we live in my girlhood home and on land that belonged to my Grandpa originally! We have a Sheep Farm! I have a Paint horse named Tuff , and raise English Shepherds…I train dogs for herding and farm work…Les lives the life of a happy Golfer! (Except when we have work to be accomplished on the farm)…then golf has to wait…but he is okay with this…

I am asked occasionally to speak at a local church…

We are so very blessed with good friends from all over this country! Most are met thru our dogs…

What are we doing for our 34th Anniversary? I am restricted to no water activities and my leg is to sore to ride horses…so we will stay home and go to The Women’s Club in Thomasville with our good good friend Illona Meeks…for lunch and rest the rest of the day from all the farm work we have done in the last 3 days

Monday is a Golf Tournament for Les and I will be back working dogs on sheep and looking for fences to repair!

We will start on 35 blessed years of marriage…

God is good…

I have a good husband in Les Keziah! He has allowed me to work and do and be who I am with no restrictions…What a gift!

Les is the kindest person, faithful, true, loving, supportive of all my adventures, and a great furniture mover LOL!  and the Greatest Friend I have ever known…I was blessed that night we met at Bennigans!  We have come far from that moment…Yes Blessed to have each other and for 34 years! Wow!

God is good!
