The Grandma’s…the girls…

So we have 2 old ewes they are around 13 years…They are the only 2 …I have remaining of my original flock…

They have been good producers and with little trouble. I have several of their offspring still…

this past week we have experienced unusually cold weather…Les and I decided they should go in the stall at night and be fed hay and a bit of grain…

Well they took to this new sleeping arrangement like a duck to water…I just have Journey come along to assist if needed…and we added 2 of this years lambs to the Grandmas. 4 is a easer number to herd than 2 (if needed).

I have been good at getting them into the barn not waiting until dark…well this evening I was celebrating Christmas with Les and friends…I totally forgot them! It was 8:30 PM and I put my coat and hoodie on and picked up the good flashlight. Journey and I went to look for them…There they were next to the woods flirting with the new ram! Really Ladies Calm Down! Seriously it is not happening!

As I walked up to them I laid “J” down and I spoke to them and they saw the light but were not sure who I was the hoodie I guess…So as I spoke to them and said Girls, its time to go to bed…I shined the light on my face they started to talk to me when they saw my face! They recognized me and my voice but it took a two point authentication! I smiled as “J” did his job and we headed to the barn all the time I think they were saying SUPPER!!! again we went to the barn with no problems!

I am truly amazed! What good ole girls!
