As daylight arrived at Maple Grove Farm… the ewes and their lambs were facing the rising sun. They looked like camels on the desert with their necks up and their faces full chewing their cud. Serene and peaceful.
In the back ground was Dutchmens Mountain…As I watched the sun come up…I noticed the heavy frost all round the sheep. Their bells softly tinkling as they chewed and time to time a ewe spoke softly to a lamb.
As I took my quiet time in our bedroom this morning….I snuggled under the quilt my Grandma made for me back in 1979 out of my prom dresses. I cannot describe the feeling of love and peace and it gave me. Like Grandma was still here and I was getting a big hug filled with all her love. I kinda liked it! Thank you Grandma and Thank you God for my good Grandma Delk!
We cut wood today. It was a nice day for wood cutting. Cool , sun shinning and clear. The beautiful Carolina Blue sky was bright. A bit windy. We quickly had a load and brought it home and stacked it.I like to cut wood and load and unload it. It is a simple country pleasure. Along with the wood smoke and warmth!
This evening as the sun set over the pond and Steeprock Mountain the wind died down, the sky was beautiful. Gold all round the edges! I sat outside with the dogs and watched the changes in the sky. But quickly it was too cold for me to stay.
This day was a promise of many more beautiful days to come in 2017. Drover, KAT, BOO, and Montgomery are looking forward to better weather and working sheep and ducks! So am I !
