Today my Sweet Aunt Peggy started treatment for the lung cancer inside her body. I drove them to Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem…Doctor Petty and his team are excellent I am sure they will do all that is possible and within their expertise.
I sat and waited as the treatment was started. I met seriously ill people in the waiting room along with their loved ones. I was struck by the seriousness of their illnesses.
I met a man 72 years old in a wheel chair and missing a leg…he was feeling so blessed… Another man 50 years old ( he told me about his Mother and her worn out Bible) he has a serious form of inherited cancer. Both had hope and strength I can only wonder about.
And others…The nurses, PAs and doctors, the folk that help check you in…
It was a sobering day…A day that made me want to do something to help others. So I chatted and visited. And I volunteered to help in hospitality on the days I am there. I now have a job. (Only one person can sit with my Aunt and my Uncle Don wants to do that) after 55 years of marriage I would expect no less…I am their driver…
The need of the people I meet and see…is unimaginable to me…So we will see how this chapter unfolds…I want to offer hope and love and lend a ear to listen…
We are called …To help in all ways and where we can!
