Good news …No lost lamb!
Good news I Found …the perfect rock for the Shepherd’s Cottage bottom step at the back porch!
So, what do I mean by a step rock for the back porch? Years and years ago folk in the country…city too I reckon, used rocks for their steps, but not just any rock…they were called “step” rocks. Rocks that occur naturally and you might find one anywhere. I had noticed this “one” sometime back when it was raining and I was stuck in the mud at the branch with the gator.
This evening I thought… I have the shovel on the gator lets go check it out. As you can see by the photos the light was fading fast so sadly no photos of “the step rock” . I was able to dislodge it from it’s waiting place. (Waiting to be found) as Grandpa told me…years ago…these rocks are special…they wait for you to find them…I have found two in my life time. God provides even step rock! I just had to be alert and look!
Well my “step rock” was made just for this one place where I needed a solid step. The rock is about 8 inches high and 38 inches wide and 12 inches deep. My guess! Anyway we will measure it…The bottom step at the cottage back door is broken and this one will replace the wooden one there now. I am quite excited!
The rock was flat with the ground and looked almost like a piece of concrete flat on the ground. I stepped on it several times before I noticed it.
The Maple Grove Farm Crew went along to help and enjoy the evening…Drover, BOO, KAT, and Journey too!

Will be moving g to a new farm in a couple of months and will be looking for my step rock. What a great legend.
